HexBoard is a 133-key isomorphic MIDI controller built for musicians who want to approach notes, chords, scales, and tunings differently.

Instead of arranging notes like a piano, HexBoard uses a compact hexagonal grid where musical relationships become geometric shapes. Move a chord shape across the board. Explore alternate layouts. Switch from familiar 12-tone music into microtonal tunings. Light up scales and notes directly beneath your fingers.

Use it with your computer over USB-C, connect directly to hardware synths over TRS MIDI, or play the built-in wavetable synth through headphones.

Important: HexBoard 1.2 uses mechanical keyboard switches. The keys are not velocity-sensitive and do not support aftertouch.

Hand-built to order. Please allow approximately 2 weeks for your HexBoard to be built and shipped. A fitted zipper case is included with current orders.

  • Powered by the RP2040 maxed out with 16MB of flash memory just in case you actually intend to port DOOM.
  • Built-in polyphonic wavetable synth for those times you want to play music, but not bad enough to fire up your DAW.
